“I was drawn to EQ as I was curious. Why do some people succeed in work and life? What is the difference for some over others when they have the same IQ and opportunities?
As an individual and a consultant I have always had to be flexible as so much was always going on around me. My reaction to all of it was determined by my flexibility, my ability to adjust to change, and ultimately, to allowing all my experiences to be a learning opportunity.
So why was it that some people see events as a learning opportunity like me, and others become a victim or focus on blame?
The more I explored what motivates me and brings me to fulfilment, the more I realised Emotional Intelligence kept crossing my path.
The more I then investigated EQ, the more I saw research that showed that EQ plays a role in how we individually manage stress and conflict. How each of us interact with others and how we have the ability to influence them.
EQ affects our overall performance on and off the job, in work and in our personal life and with our job and life satisfaction.
I discovered that helping people enhance their ability to perceive, to access, to understand, to regulate and to transform emotions; helps them move forward and improve their individual performance or to get through a difficult situation.
Ultimately using emotional intelligence in the workplace enhances productivity, engagement and ultimately profitability and of course safety.”
